Brothers, Week 17

These boys have been such a joy lately.  Even in my Friday-afternoon mood (pleeease get to the weekend).. I love them to pieces.  I love them each for their own special individual reasons and I love them as brothers.  They are hilarious, and sweet, and crazy and simply wonderful.  I'm beyond lucky to be their mom!

our 7-year-old.

Leyton likes: eating ketchup, jumping, legos, elmo, grandma's house, steam-rolling his brother, smashing bugs, falling down on purpose, ice age, and the letter "e"

Leyton dislikes: chicken, cement trucks, sunday school

Leyton can: say all of this letters, count to 13, say a bunch of colors, sing the ABC song and twinkle twinkle, hold up 2 fingers, tell you all his animals (flamingo, giraffe and polar bear are his favorites).  he can even color on couches..

and has a new haircut.  watch out ladies.

Brothers, Week 15

"you're not going to rescue me, mom?"

remember that thought when you were little.. that you'd eventually be able to catch up in age to your older brother/sister?  soon enough, little Finn.. you'll have your time.

a weekend of firsts.

We had such a great weekend around the Prosser house.   On Friday night, the boys took me out to eat at a cute local place in downtown White Bear, called Washington square.  We're those crazy Minnesotans that ate outside in 50 degree weather, but hey.. the sun was shining, it felt great!  We stopped and got a mini cone for Leyton and spent some time walking around and watching Luke and Leyton parkour (it's a real word and they're good at it..)

Saturday was full of house work, yard work (thank you Muggs and Chris!).. then we finished the day at the Mall of America.  This little spontaneous trip turned into such a fun time!  We ate at Rainforest Cafe.. a 2 year old, animal lovers dream... played Legos at legoland, and rode some little kid rides at the amusement park.  Fun, right?   Leyton was such a champ on the rides, it was hilarious.  The only rides he has been on are the merry-go-round (doesn't care for it) and the train last year in the Florida (hated it).  So we didn't have too high of expectations.  But he seriously loved it!  We went on a slow train first, then moved up to the bus that goes really high, then to some cars that whip around really fast, then a real live rollercoaster! (well, real live for a 2 year old).  He was so funny.. not very expressive but would quietly yell 'wooo' every once in a while and try to put his hands up.

Sunday, we went to church and for the first time, both boys went to nursery!  It was wierd, I felt extremely bare without a baby or even a diaper bag.  Leyton still doesn't do the best in nursery.  Luckily, he hangs in there and barely makes it so we aren't those embarrassed parents who get their number called. And of course, Finn was a gem.  The girls in the nursery said that he's such a good baby, he smiled the whole time.. ahhh this feels great to have one of our kids be called a "good baby!"

Here's the big boy on the rollercoaster with grandma!

the calm side.

This is the thing.. I started writing this cute little post about my cute little son yesterday before he drew circles with a blue crayon all over our couch!  I can't even tell you how upset I was.  But you might be able to get an idea with this picture...

seriously.  It had already been an interesting morning, or what I like to nicely call a "teaching" morning.. complete with a couple "teaching" spankings.  Not really sure when he drew this masterpiece, but I turned the corner and was.. shocked.  I didn't know what else to do with the kid so I put him to bed!  of course, he was his super cute self when he woke up so we mended our relationship.. I guess.

anyways, I couldn't bring myself to finish this post with the mood I was in.. but we're moving on!  Despite Leyton's wild side, and apparently his rebellious side, some of my favorite moments with him are the times when we sit together and color. and draw. and practice letters. and do stickers.  It can last quite a while and it's such a nice break for both of us.

I think I've said this before, but I am loving this age where he absorbs so much! (but I guess except for the 'only color on paper thing'...)  It's so fun to hear the words he's learning, his letters, colors, numbers.. he already has such a creative mind and it's so fun to see his little brain at work.

and here's just a cute picture of his buddy Zakary.. milk and cookies were just what the doctor ordered.  they're master dippers too.. :)
