walking + a train table

My boy walks!  and walks and walks and walks... all over the place!  I know everyone says it, but it's true.. I really can't believe this day is here.  Not just the day he walks but the day my baby boy isn't such a baby anymore!   If I were to give it an official day, it'd be Sunday February 20th.  He went from talking a few steps every once in a while to full blown walking.  Here's a video of Leyton walking a little distance.

In 5 short days, he will be 1!  His birthday week has officially started.. and what a good week it will be.  Starting with tomorrow morning's road trip to meet his new cousin in Des Moines!  Can't wait to meet him/her..  ahhhh!!!

We also wanted to give Leyton his present from his mom & dad a little early.. and get his train table set up!  He doesn't really appreciate it all yet.. he's still pretty young for a lot of the little toys.  But it's more of a just a fun table to stand up to and play on.. and suck on all the little trains.  I thought it would be such a great idea if I set it up all by myself (what?!).. it was a good idea in theory, but after a few screws and re-screws, we finally got it all set up.

Not sure why I don't have a final product shot, but I'll show ya soon..

Can't wait for this wondering double birthday week!  (triple with the birth of baby Kirk!)

thank you...

.. for all your prayers!  The conference on Saturday went so well.  I knew it would.. God is so good!  Of course I was nervous all morning until I spoke, but once I got up there.. I really enjoyed it.  I soaked it all in and just enjoyed the time to share what the good Lord has been teaching me and to share what Heidi meant to me.  I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the other speakers as well!  My mom rocks and did awesome.. I am so lucky to have her as my mom!  It was so encouraging to see young women loving being in God's presence.  A couple photos from that day..

my Valentines love.

To catch up a little.. here's some photos from our Valentines Day this year.  I told Luke that day.. I really don't care what we do, Valentines Day really isn't a big deal, we don't need to celebrate, no big deal.  Not true, all a lie.  I'd like to say I don't care, but any excuse to celebrate being in love.. I'm in.  That day, he told me had a plan for us.  I was thrilled.. thinking we were going to ditch the baby and go out.  ditch is a strong word.. But we didn't, which was even better!  See, it's a rare thing these days to just be together as a mini fam.. to just hang out.  So Luke came home with food for an amazing meal and we hung out!  We spent some time with the little man, then put him to bed and made a wonderful meal together.  Something about cooking, hanging out, drinking a little wine and watching Bachelor together was just perfect.  Thank you my love!

Luke walked in and said, "shhh, sign this card for Leyton."  :) And there's one for Mommy.. thanks buddy.

He's apparently not feeling the lovey feelings right now..

mr. light brite

Yesterday we moved!  I know, we're crazy.  We moved in with my parents in Stillwater.. we're excited but also very sad to leave Leyton's wonderful Prosser grandparents.  We were so incredibly blessed to live with them, have the space we did and get to hang out with them!  Leyton learned a lot from them.. one of which is a good high-five from Grandpa B.  He couldn't be more proud :)

One toy he will miss is the hit toy of the 80's.. the light brite!  I did love these things, but Leyton just doesn't appreciate it.  He just messes up the pieces and tries to eat them.  Just doesn't work that way, little man!

first raspberry..

Would you call that a raspberry?  Or in baby terms, an owie?  Leyton and I went to play at Mary's house the other day.. (thank you so much for lunch!)  It was bound to happen soon, I'm surprised it wasn't earlier!  He's gotten scratches here and there, but this one broke a little blood.  He's a little reckless these days, being really bold about walking (record is about 10 steps!  He's doing it!).. so he managed to crash into the side of her table.  Poor little bud..

Happy Friday everyone!  Today's plan is to catch up on a little American Idol, getting my talk a little more ready and my favorite part.. plan some more details for his 1st birthday bash.  Can't wait :)

prayer request

This weekend, I have the amazing honor of being a part of a this Christian women's conference.  It is a conference that my mom has spoke at before in Des Moines and she will again speak this weekend.  And I get to speak!  It's only for 5 minutes that I will share a brief testimony of my life.. lately.  I have the awesome privilege of sharing about my sweet Heidi.  I can't not say "sweet" or "dear" or "wonderful" in front of her name.. gosh I miss her.

Please pray for this conference... for the right women would be there to experience this.  Pray for the speakers, the leaders, the musicians and that it all goes smoothly.  And please pray for me!  I know it's only a few minutes, but I get nervous.  whew.  I am so excited to honor Heidi's life.. to tell others how this whole experience has changed and impacted my life.

On another note.. we are anxiously awaiting two new babies to join the Kirkpatrick families!  Just found out that baby #1 (Ryan & Lisa's baby) is coming by C-section on March 2nd.. darn little breech baby.  Pray for a safe arrival for theirs and baby #2 coming a little bit later to Nathan & Chrissie.  I am SO bummed that we live too far from both of them!  darn!  But I absolutely cannot wait to smooch and hug and squeeze their little babes.  woah, I may need another baby soon..

bed head

and after such a fun weekend, this is how we all slept last night..

great weekend

We had such a good weekend with our mini fam! Now that Luke is back to work, we savor our weekends so much.. it's great to be together and just do stuff together! So here's how it went..

Friday night Leyton and I met Luke in Maple Grove to shop around a bit and eat at Red Lobster (yummm). I really love eating out with my boys. Leyton's pretty good at sitting in his high chair eating whatever food we give him. We are those parents now that leave a huge mess on the floor when we leave. But I do love that the little mister does well in restaurants.. something that Luke and I love to do. Ended the night by watching some hockey with Stevin (Steph + Kevin), and Mom and Dad Prosser.

On Saturday we went to some sort of local Elk River winter event.. well, not much of an event as people hanging out in a park. But there was a husky show, where a trainer brought his sled dogs to show how it all works and talk about huskys. We brought Easton and he was quite a hit.. we sure like that dog :) We had a fun time hanging out with Muggs and Chris!

Then, Saturday night we went down to St. Paul to hang out with Uncle Nate for a bit before his hockey game on Sunday. Leyton loves his uncle, he just doesn't know it yet :) Afterwards, we spent the night with our wonderful friends, Darren and Al, who live in Burnsville.. finished the night by watching Despicable Me.  cute movie!

On Sunday we went to our "old" church on Sunday to say goodbye to our dear friends, the Wendts who are leaving the church to start a new one! We still love our church and miss it, but we have to take a break while we live an hour away.. understandable.

And to top off the weekend, we went to Nate's hockey game in St. Paul on Sunday afternoon and hung out with him after. The game was right smack in the middle of Leyton's nap, so we were a little curious how that was all going to work out. He did great but about halfway through the game, ended up in this position on Grandpa B's shoulder.

So fun right?
Happy Valentines day to everyone! Enjoy your love day :)

11 months

One month away, my little man! In one short month, you'll begin to count your age by years! You're on your way to being an actually number and not just zero and some months. Can you even believe we made it here so fast?

You went from this little squisher..

to this big boy..

what?? wow, you sure are cute.
Today we went to church and could barely focus on what the pastor is saying.. we are guilty, we are those parents! We were laughing and looking at you as you played, smiled and flirted with everyone around you. We are so lucky to have you as our son!

At 11 months, you are such a bundle of joy. You are still so active and prefer to stand more than sit. You took your first steps and do take 3 or 4 steps quite often but it hasn't turned into full blown walking yet. You light up when your dad, myself or any of your family walk in the room (loving your grandparents so much these days!) You are going through a "no-stranger" stage where you get a little worried when you don't see people you know around. You've gotten better, but you realllly don't like nursery at church these days. Oh well, we'll try again soon! You have 3 teeth.. two on the bottom and one snaggle-tooth on the upper right. You are good at chewing and eat a lot, really anything we eat. You drink like out of your sippy cup like a champ and you love to talk and make tons of noises!

I can't wait for your 1st birthday party! As you will soon find out, your mommy loves birthdays and couldn't be more thrilled to celebrate you! (we'll forget I have a birthday all together, no big deal). Get ready for pictures of his train birthday, coming soon.. :)

Love you more each day little buddy!
