my wild thing.

On Friday night, we had such a fun movie night with our mini fam.
Easton wasn't invited though.. he is too hairy these days.
Luke set up a big bed downstairs in front of the big screen, we got a Hot & Ready pizza from Little Caesars (yumm) and watched Where the Wild Things are together! It was sooo fun. Luke and I can't wait to make this is a traditional as our family expands. It was such a good cuddle time with the little man. He sat on my lap and watched it for a while, them fell asleep on Luke's chest. Ahhh the good stuff.

Oh and yes, that movie is just... ok. I didn't expect much so I didn't mind it. Luke's has too high of standards.

Also! Big news! Leyton is a rock star at rolling over from his back to his stomach! Now he just has to remember that he can do that in the middle of the night so he can roll back over to his stomach.
I won't hold my breath.

p.s. Yesterday I was video chatting with Suz and Peyton (love those girls).. sweet lil' Peyton was sitting there, looking at us.. peaceful little baby, just loving life. Leyton was sitting on my lap, squawking like a bird and chewing on the desk. oooh I was laughing! He's all boy! :)

Remedies.

Like it is for everyone else, this is a daily learning experience how to do this baby thing! There's so much to learn and you have to learn it so quick. Here's some remedies for baby.. issues. I'm sure I'll add to this list and would love to hear what others have!

Diaper rash: Corn starch. Works great!
Baby acne: Great lotion called Cerave with Aquaphor (greasy) at night. (thanks Aunt Lisa!)
Teething: Oh gosh. Teething tablets, Orajel, Tylenol and giving him a cold wet washcloth to chew on!
Dry scalp: Baby oil or.. what I haven't tried yet, Bi carb soda with warm water.. rub all over his head.

And just a random tip. For cleaning dirty computer keyboards, toothpaste with baking soda. Use a little toothbrush and rag! It smells good too.

New car seat?!

Mr. long man is going to need a new car seat in the near future! The doctor said to start browsing the sales for them.. maybe he'll need it in a couple of months. We need the convertible car seat that can face backwards until he's a year old, then turn around. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really have to no idea what to look for and I'm kinda lazy to do all the research. Seriously, you spend all this time when you're pregnant planning and planning for an INFANT! I'm beginning to think I don't have any infant anymore. Here's one at Target, just throwing it out there. Any ideas? Thanks!

basketball player?

We have a long baby boy! At his 4 month appointment, he is 16 lbs and 26.5 inches long.. that's 93% for length. Average head and up there for weight too. The doctor noticed how... energetic he is too. :) Love that boy. He had his shots too, but of course, I had to look away! I decided I don't mind shot day though. That means for that day and most of the next, he's calm! He cuddles with him mommy :)

He's still teething, no little teeth have popped up yet. But I think we've got the system down. The Orajel stuff works great, and I really like the teething tablets. I give a couple to him before each nap to help him not wake up hurting. Then the Orajel/tablet combo works great at night to make sure he sleeps through the night. Poor buddy, glad we don't have a memory of this painful time!

(p.s. it's dark and stormy this morning and I really like it. Turns out this is his cuddly time too. mmm.)

Alsoooo... I almost don't want to say it cuz as soon as I do he'll probably spit up, BUT he seems to not be spitting up as much! It's so nice... I'm not going through 4 shirts a day. (yes yes, I've learned my lesson. Don't even think about wearing a super cute new shirt with this little man. He has a sense about these things) We went to the chiropractor a couple times with Leyton. The doc could tell that his back muscles were really stiff and tight. Because he's such a mover, he can throw out his back easier (ha) and that messes up his digestive system. So I think it may have worked! He cries less in the car, maybe because his tummy doesn't hurt and he doesn't spit up as much! Good timing I know.. wish I could have worked through this issue before the whole wedding ordeal. Oh well.

He talks soooo much, I love it. I really think he said "daddy" last night and "hi" the other day. Let me think what I want.

Lunch date today with little friend Evie. This boy's got his choice with the girls!

4 months!

Oh! And... Leyton is 4 months old today!!

wedding day!

Luke's brother Nate got married last Thursday!! On July 1st, Nate and Britt were married at Nicollet Island Pavillion in Minneapolis. It was a perfect day and such a cool place to get married! Leyton was decked out in a super cute, gray linen suit. So adorable.

So here's story number one from the crazy day. I admit, I put a few months into thinking about my outfit for this wedding. I got a new dress from J Crew, a really fun necklace, did my hair all pretty.. feeling pretty good about myself. I have to thank Leyton for keeping me humble though. I drove up to the building, got him out of his seat and didn't even make it in the building before getting spit up all down my dress. bummer. Tried to get it off, but good ol' taffeta material doesn't work so well with spit up! Needless to say, he spit up on my dress about 3 or 4 times. He nailed Lukes uncle Andrew and a few other lucky guests as well. oh well, I'm a mom right? Leyton reminded me of that a few times.

He did great during the ceremony, besides a speaker mess up that scared him. He listened intently as Luke and I sang a song together and did the rounds to all the relatives during the ceremony. My sweet friend Hilary picked him up about 7:30 so that we could enjoy ourselves. And we did! It was such a fun night of hanging out, dancing.. and they are married! Congrats Nate and Britt!

the sweet life.

I feel like I have so much to update! It's been a busy, but super fun weekend. We've had lots to do and the weather has been spectacular! You have to take advantage when that happens, so I had very little computer time. This is what life looks like for Leyton mister these days...

First and foremost... he's teething! Seriously?! I know he's ahead of the game on a lot of things, but I must admit I shed a few tears thinking about a little tooth popping up on my little baby. He's still my baby right? On Friday, he started the day not wanting to feed much, had a little fever.. really balmy skin (I think it's balmy), cried a bunch and chewed on everything. Those are the signs right? I have to tell you.. this is one of those moments when I realize that I am the mother of this child and I know my child best. Sometimes I feel like I'm not equipped and don't really know what to do... this is my first time at all this! But it is such a great feeling to know him inside and out (although he likes to keep us guessing!) and be able to comfort him when he's hurting. Poor little buddy.

He found his feet! He loves to reach up and grab his feet when he's laying down.

He's a champ at the Bumbo seat thingy. No floppy head! I think he's making his way to sitting up.

Still can just roll the one direction.. but he's sure good at it! Still wakes himself up every once in a while in the middle of the night just because he accidentally rolled over.

He's suuuper cute and besides the random crying and ooooh lots of spitting up, Luke and I are still convinced he's perfect. (shhh don't tell us the truth)
