una chica?

Looks like the girl vote is winning!

I start my last first day of school today. I won't be teaching next year so I can stay at home and stare at our adorable baby. (I'm just assuming it'll be adorable.. maybe not?) But get ready, dear baby, to learn a whole lot of Spanish!

Here's a picture of my class.. :)

beating heart!

Today Luke went with me to my 12 week doctors appointment.. we heard the baby's heart beating! The doctor (who is wonderful, by the way) heard the baby moving around a bunch.. we have an active baby in there! It was sooo cool to hear that, it's really true, there's a growing baby in there!

The doctor also gave Luke some benefits to not finding out the sex.. I don't like saying sex.. the gender. So, he's coming around.

Baby lime is growing like crazy this week.. working on its reflexes, curling its fingers and toes and making sucking movements! And the face looks like a real human now.. I'm already so proud. Good job little baby!

I gave the bella band (great creation) a try for the first time this week.. getting even more difficult to fit in jeans. Oh, and note to the child, especially if it's a girl.. I'm trying to train your father to not say those "oh so wonderful comments" that no girl really wants to hear. "You're eating for 2 countries!" "When we go to the fair this year, you're gonna eat a ton!"

I love him. And I love my baby.

eggs and ham

TO OUR UNBORN CHILD: So we did a breakfast dinner the other night...and i would like to say 'your welcome' in advance for all this delicious protein you are getting from my eggs. As you already know, I make a mean plate of eggs and will continue to offer that to you throughout your life. maybe when you turn 18 i'll tell you my secrets...maybe...

Baby's First concert!

There's a good chance... if it's a boy, destined to be a drummer. If it's a girl, destined to fall in love with a drummer. It happens!

Till next time.. Luke, Kristen & baby lime

So we took our babe to its first show this past tuesdee. we saw a band that single handedly changed my life and got me through high school....blink 182. it was supes cool to have our kid's first concert be blink. and i know some of you may be thinking/saying "well, technically the baby wasn't there and won't remember alskdja;lsdkj;aflkjsdf" just shut your face and give this to us. It was awesome. we've got some pics too. so hopefully the kid won't come out wearing tight jeans and mad at his father...

198 days!

Made it past the 200 day mark.. that seems like a crazy amount to go! This is what is happening to the baby in week 11:

It's just over 1 1/2 inches long, about the size of a fig! It's almost fully formed (amazing), the hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under the gums, and some of the bones are beginning to harden.

The baby is already busy kicking and stretching (really?!), the tiny movements are so effortless, they look like water ballet (Mom! you know what that's like!). These movements will become more frequent as the body grows and becomes more developed and functional.

Here's the baby fig!

Not feeling so good..

Weeks ten and eleven turned out to be the start of sickness for me.. ick. I thought I was doing pretty good at staying out of it all! Feeling pretty nauseous and today, very dizzy.

Funny story for today.. I was at a teachers learning store (oh yes, school is starting) and started to feel pretty dizzy. Things were really bright and starting to duplicate! It wasn't too bad, so I headed over to Gap. I was shopping around, feeling a little dazed and funny, but kept going. I get up to the register to ask the girl a question and seriously...! things are not coming out of my mouth right! I tried to ask what items were on sale and it came out something like.. do you have the things on lase, or sall.. or ... sale?! It kept going and I was laughing, not sure what was going on! (Now I know this sounds a little not so normal, little scary.. yes yes, if it happens again I will call my doctor). I finally blurted out, "I'm pregnant" to help try to explain things.. the girl was laughing pretty hard. I called Luke after and left a ridiculous message trying to blurt something out!

Not sure what that was all about, but I'm just staying glued to the couch tonight. I realize I do have a problem relaxing. It comes with working from home.. there's always stuff to get done!

And I keep expanding! It's week 11 and I officially have to put a hair tie (I'm not calling it a binder) around my button on my pants. And again, I hit the sweats as soon as I get home. Ahhh..

Next week is the appointment where we hear the heartbeat! Because of the sickness and me getting bigger, I think we have a healthy baby! woo hooo!

I'll post pictures of baby's first concert next.. a hint? It made daddy very proud to have the baby "attend" the concert!

tenth week..

We're 1/4th of the way there?! Week 10 out of 40 is done.. crazy!

Still feeling good.. I'm a little larger in size, but I know I know, I'm the only one that can tell. It just feels like I ate a lot and my stomach just stays that way. You know that pair of pants you have that can only save for those days you are feeling really skinny... there's so chance I'm getting in those. I'll stick with the sweatpants..

Our little baby is a kumquat this week! I don't know what it is either, supposedly a vegetable. It's getting bigger though! 2 weeks until we hear the heartbeat.. can't wait for that.

Lately, Luke and I have been thinking about upcoming projects before the baby arrives. Step one.. transform the basement. From a dark, scary (but super cool beach theme) basement to a brighter, little more spacious office that we will actually want to go down to. So let's start knocking down some walls!

(Dear little baby.. you will probably find this out, but your father really likes to take his time and isn't in a hurry to start projects.. your mother is the opposite. We'll see how that works out)

dreaming.

I had one of those really long, detailed dreams last night. The doctor told me that I could have the baby now or wait another 7 months.. it was up to us! I said.. "but I want to be pregnant!" So we waited until the baby was ready :)

Weird.

This is what the baby looks like at week 9.. the size of a grape! The chambers of the heart and formed, blood is flowing, the baby has teeth, fully developed eyes and has it's male or female organs. woah.

I'm still feeling good! A little queezy at times, just have to keep the food close.. especially bread. Thanks to everyone who is blessing up with gifts for the little one!

Oh, and congrats on Nate and Britt on their engagement!

Happy Monday!
